Down to Earth

Promontory, where Thiokol (now Northrop Grumman) is located, sits between the west desert and marshlands. The vast openness conceals the great diversity of wildlife that calls this landscape home.

If you owned such a large amount of land, what would you want to focus on? How would you address your responsibilities to the land?

Brigham City also went through environmental changes due to Thiokol. A doubling of population meant that resources were strained, and if the city continued to grow there might not be enough water to go around. This was a consideration that the city had to address to stay healthy.

Impacts and Byproducts

It’s your turn to reflect:

  • How does this history shape the community you see today?
  • How did work here change the world?
  • What other impacts do you see?
  • Would you have done anything differently?

Thanks to Northrop Grumman for their cooperation in the development of this exhibit.
