Trip to Minidoka National Historic Site- CANCELLED

October 18, 2025 @ 11:30 am 7:00 pm

Event Cancelled

Unfortunately, due to the shutdown of the Federal Government, we determined that it is not the best time to lead a group visit out to this important historical site. Park staff informed us they will not be able to lead a group visit, or to open the facilities to us. This means that the tour would not include a guide, access to the interpretive center, or use of restrooms. We debated moving forward regardless, but felt that this would not provide the experience we had promised. The decision came after long and difficult deliberations, and we deeply apologize for the inconvenience. We hope to work with the park staff when they have reopened to reschedule. In that event, we will reach out to make sure that you have the opportunity to join us.

In the meantime, we will be issuing full refunds for any registration fees and/or donation amounts that you paid. If you signed up for the trip, please check your email to start the refund process.

Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to seeing you at future museum programs.

In the spirit of Continuing The Journey , the Brigham City Museum staff will be leading a trip to the Minidoka National Historic Site in Jerome County, Idaho. Although little remains of the barbed-wire fences and tar-papered barracks, the Minidoka concentration camp once held over 13,000 Japanese Americans in the Idaho desert.

Travel in comfort aboard a full-sized passenger bus as we make our way to Idaho. Upon arrival, you’ll be guided on an educational tour by the Minidoka staff, and have an opportunity to explore the visitor’s center on your own.

This is a half-mile walking tour along dirt and gravel trails. Visitors will be allowed inside two different historic buildings during the tour.

Tour may include the use of stairs and walking on uneven terrain. Contact the Brigham City Museum if you have questions or concerns about accessibility during the program.

While we welcome everyone on this trip, it is not recommended for small children. Please do what works best for you family.
