Uncovering The Journey: Japanese American Pioneers in Box Elder County

To virtually explore the Uncovering the Journey exhibit, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate the Exhibit: Click on the circles marked on the floor. These represent various viewpoints within the digitized exhibit space, allowing you to “move” through it as if you were physically walking around.
  2. View Objects and Labels: Look for small green circles scattered throughout the exhibit. Clicking on these will display information about the nearby objects, including their labels.
  3. Access Full Details: If an object’s description or label is not visible, click on the “see more” option to view the complete text. You may also need to zoom in to clearly read the object labels.

Continuing the Journey: Japanese American Pioneers in Box Elder County

While creating the exhibit, Uncovering the Journey, the Brigham City Museum received so many photos and family histories that we couldn’t fit everything into the exhibit. To try to share the first full history of the Japanese American community in Box Elder County, we needed to leave out a lot of words that would have captured more depth and complexity to the lives and events covered here. But this exhibit is the beginning of the journey, not the end. By compiling these on our website, along with oral histories and information already available from the museum, we are fulfilling the promise to build a permanent Japanese American history collection.
