The Journey Continues: Permanent Japanese American History Now Available Online
While creating the exhibit, Uncovering the Journey, the Brigham City Museum received so many photos and family histories that we couldn’t fit everything into the exhibit. To try to share the first full history of the Japanese American community in Box Elder County, we needed to leave out a lot of words that would have captured more of the depth and complexity of the lives and events covered here. But this exhibit is the beginning of the journey, not the end. By compiling these on our website, along with oral histories and information already available from the museum, we are fulfilling the promise to build a permanent Japanese American history collection. You can check out this collection at https://museum.bcutah.gov/explore/ucj .
The exhibition Uncovering the Journey: Japanese American Pioneers in Box Elder County explores the rich history of Box Elder County’s Japanese American community. Engage with stories of family, culture, injustice, and resilience. Curated with ongoing input from the local community since 2022, this exhibit highlights the lasting impact of Japanese Americans on Box Elder County’s culture and history. This exhibit will only be on display until June 21st, so make sure to stop in before it is gone!
